Panda Update

I've gotten email from some of you regarding changes to your information and it has still not been updated; that is why I have changed the location of this site to a server which is located on my office computer. The main problem with the Telus hosted site was that uploading of files one at a time was a real pain and I also kept losing my password that I needed to be able to do this (I found it last week). The advantage of having panda site hosted on my office computer is that now updates can be immediate, and there is no longer the very annoying 5 Mb limit on disk space. What this means is that I can now put large numbers of pictures from the Panda reunion, or other pictures that people send me with little worry about running out of space (once the Panda material gets to about 1 Gb I'll be letting people know to slow down).

To make things simple for people, I'm leaving the Panda contact site the same on the Telus hosted web page, but I will soon put a link to this new site. This site is available only through a direct IP address (and hopefully our IP address will remain fixed as long as we have our office ADSL connection) which used to be 216.232.4.187. On 5/7/2001 the IP address was abruptly changed. If this happens on the order of once a year, it is barely tolerable, but I don't know what Telus plans to do with my new "fixed" IP address. To get to a link which will show the latest location of my personal webserver, go to http://www.fingertapping.com/

To reliably connect to my home page, use the link:
http://216.232.6.222/default.html
Why you have to include default.html I have no idea.

Given the light traffic that the Telus hosted site has seen, I don't see any problem hosting the Panda site on my office computer which spends most of its CPU time performing video office surveillance and making movies of intruders coming in after hours (just the cleaning staff and me so far), with the remainder of CPU time soaked up by seti@home. I would expect that there should be no problems accessing this site unless it is down due to windoze crashing (an all to common occurrence) or if my partner is hogging ADSL bandwidth when access is attempted. Email me regarding any problems/suggestions and send any photographs (jpegs only please) that you want displayed on this site.
